Mechaton in action
The Mechaton (aka "Waggleton P. Tallylicker") is a smaller remote controlled robot version of Hekaton. It was originally intended to be a "child's toy" that would rampage through a scale-model city as a form of entertainment. It was found in the Terror Dome controlled by a member of the Skulls. After shooting the Skull, Grayson uses the remote control to control the Mechaton. It is capable of firing powerful lasers from its eyes and being directed where to move and interact with objects that are blocking the path.
While controlling the Mechaton the player cannot use any weapons, the energy leash, or gravity boots. It seems to be immune to any damage so long as the player lives. The Mechaton is only destroyed by falling into a trench after the battle when opening a gate, in which Grayson mourns its destruction.
Stepping on an enemy with the Mechaton will earn you the Mass Extinction skillshot.
Trivia[]
- When the Mechaton falls into a hole after smashing through a wall, Ishi says, "He served us well." Grayson replies,"I named him Waggleton P. Tallylicker, but I never got the chance to tell him. He will be remembered."
- During the battle with the Skulls, Grayson sings, "He's my favourite robot pal. Ishi was okay but he wasn't fifty feet tall. It's a pretty cool party, come and see! You can get a robot and come killin' with me."
- The Mechaton is possibly a reference to Mechagodzilla.
- The other Mechatons you see before you encounter and control Waggleton are basically the exact same mold of Hekaton, only smaller. If you look closely, you can even see the wound Hekaton recieves at the end of the game on the head of each Mechaton.
